The Cellar chimneys of Briñas

Briñas (La Rioja)

The most traditional wineries, those known as "Calas" or "caves", dug in the earth and sometimes in the same rock, needed some solution for the carbon dioxide emanating during the fermentation of the grape, called "stench", not stored inside the Same.

On the hill of the neighborhood of Bodegas stand out these small constructions in stone of ashlars like chimneys, the "cellar chimneys" destined to the ventilation of the wineries.

They are works of the nineteenth and twentieth century.
