San Vicente de la Sonsierra

Enjoy the heritage, nature and landscape with this circular route of less than 10 kilometres. Get to know the hermitage and necropolis of Santa María de la Piscina better with the information panels, visit the interior by scanning the QR code on the panel in front of the main entrance. Visit the Neolithic dolmen of La Cascaja and the wine presses and rustic presses of Zabala. Don’t forget to take your mobile phone with you, as along the route you will find informative QRs about the route, the heritage and the landscape.

We stock up on water at the fountain in the Plaza Mayor, as there are no fountains along the route. We head towards the hermitage of San Roque and turn right (there is a sign with an informative QR on the façade of the Casa de la Villa). At the end of the street turn left (QR information sign). Continue along Calle del Prado, where you will see a sign with QR information that will show you the way. Turn left and continue along the asphalted road until you reach the LR124 (milestone with informative QR installed). Halfway along the road you will find a milestone with a QR. Take your time and scan the QR, it will help you to enjoy the landscape of the surrounding vineyards. Very dangerous crossing! Be extremely careful, this is a very busy road.

Continue along the path on the right, but first, scan the QR on the directional milestone to get information about the route. Continue along the Canoca road, you will find milestones that will inform you of the route. Scan the QR of the first one to situate yourself in the surrounding landscape. Follow the asphalted road all the way until you reach the Peciña road. There you will turn left until you find the next milestone on the right-hand side of the road. Cross the vineyard and the farm with olive trees until you reach Santa María de la Pisicina. Take your time and scan the QR codes on the lecterns to learn about the history of the construction of the hermitage, the necropolis and its later use as a wine press.

Santa María de la Piscina

Scan the QR code on the lectern located in front of the main door to see the inside of the hermitage in a 360º video. Go up to the remains of the old settlement and enjoy the views from there.
Return to the hermitage and follow the signposted path in the direction of the Peciña road. After 250 metres you will find a path on the left that crosses a small stream. Keep to the left, the dolmen is about 60 metres away.

Go up to the farm and scan the QR code on the signpost to find out about the Cascaja Neolithic Dolmen. Then retrace your steps to continue along the path towards the wine presses and rustic presses of Zabala. Continue along the edge of the vineyard, and after about 250 metres you will find the sign to the Zabala wine presses and presses. Take the path on the left to visit the wine presses and presses of Zabala. Scan the QR on the information sign and take your time to understand how the press works. Are you sure you have located all the presses? There are no less than ten in the area.

Retrace your steps and follow the edge of the vineyard until you reach the next milestone. Turn left and descend along the path until you reach the Camino de la Canoca again. Return to the tarmac road in the direction of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. When you reach the crossroads, continue straight on towards the wineries. You will find a milestone that will guide you to the left. Follow the “carretera vieja” until you reach the roundabout. We will show you how to get to the “Calvario”, a very special place from where you can enjoy a 360º view of the landscape. Very dangerous roundabout!!! road with high traffic density. Cross on the left side of the road and please be very careful. From here you can see in front of you the milestone marking the way to “El Calvario”. Follow the signpost and continue uphill on the path.
