The event, held at Bodegas Riojanas, included a demonstration of the new technological application “Senderos del Vino” (Wine Trails).
La Ruta del Vino Rioja Alta presented the documentary «La Rioja Alta, Through the Pedals» at Bodegas Riojanas. This audiovisual production celebrates the landscapes of La Rioja Alta.
The documentary is a project led by Spanish Television journalist Íñigo Zubeldia and audiovisual creator Nuño Barrio, with the support of Alfonso Maestro, manager of ADRA. The idea stems from Zubeldia’s experience cycling thousands of kilometres across Spain. For this project, he has designed a journey that combines cycling with the authenticity of Rioja wine. The script has been adapted to Nuño Barrio’s visual concept. The initiative connects sporting activities with centuries-old wineries, historic underground cellars, monasteries and castles, highlighting the region’s potential for those looking to combine physical activity with its rich heritage.
In addition to the screening, a demonstration of the «Senderos del Vino» project was presented. This application was developed by Manuel Pablo, from Grupo Osaba, the company responsible for the technological development. This digital tool is designed to help users discover all the secrets, routes and trails of La Rioja Alta.
The event featured remarks from Richi Arambarri, president of Bodegas Riojanas, who emphasised the value of such initiatives within the sector’s new paradigm: “The future of wine culture no longer depends on selling bottles as a simple consumer product,” he noted.
For his part, Eduardo del Campo, mayor of Cenicero, highlighted the town’s considerable potential for sports tourism, paying particular attention to the trails connecting the municipality with other towns in the area and to «Rioja y Pedal», the classic cycling event that has already become an international benchmark.

Representing the Government of La Rioja, Diego Azcona, Director General for Sport, spoke about the region’s position as a destination firmly identified with and well established in wine and sports tourism.
The event concluded with a guided tour of the historic winery, where attendees were able to explore its impressive underground cellars, followed by a final aperitif accompanied by the iconic Monte Real and Viña Albina wines.
