Something mysterious is happening at Bodegas Montecillo.
We are pleased to announce that the respected couple formed by Don Celestino Navajas and Doña Eusebia Lafuente, driven by their innovative spirit and deep love for the land, have decided to open the doors of their distinguished winery, Bodegas Montecillo, founded in the recent year of grace 1870.
The building’s lower floors house a magnificent 16th-century vaulted ceiling, which until now has been carefully closed to the public, but which can finally be admired by those who wish to discover this architectural gem. With this, the illustrious couple reaffirms its intention to shape the future of Rioja at the end of the 19th century, when tradition and progress finally begin to go hand in hand.
However, two unusual facts have aroused the curiosity of all those who have heard this news.
The first is that both you, readers, and I, the author of these words, are now in the year 2025, which means that the founding of Montecillo is far from recent.
The second, and no less disturbing, is that Don Celestino and Doña Eusebia have been resting in peace for over a century… although it seems that they are still unaware of this.
The teams at Bodegas Montecillo and Soneto Rojo will be in charge of guiding this unique experience and shedding some light on the extraordinary events that, year after year, seem to repeat themselves within its walls.
