June is here and with it, the start of summer on the Rioja Alta Wine Route. The mornings begin to be warm and pleasant, ideal for strolling through vineyards, visiting charming villages or indulging in one of the many wine tourism experiences offered by our wineries. The nights, on the other hand, are still cool, perfect for resting or enjoying an outdoor dinner with the best local products.
This month is one of the most special of the year in our land, not only because of the splendour of the landscape, but also because of the many festivals and celebrations that take place.
If you are looking for a charming, authentic and uncrowded destination, the Rioja Alta Wine Route awaits you with open arms.
Parties for all tastes
On 9 June we celebrate La Rioja Day, a day to be proud of our land, our traditions and, of course, our wine culture. Many towns and cities organise special activities that you can consult in our agenda.
From 7 to 12 June, Logroño dresses up to pay tribute to San Bernabé, a celebration declared to be of National Tourist Interest. It is a magnificent occasion to enjoy the atmosphere of the city, the local gastronomy, the decorated streets and the historical re-enactments that recall the triumph of the people of Logroño against the French siege in 1521.
And to close the month, on 29 June, Haro hosts one of the most international and unique events in our land: the Wine Battle. A popular festival, also declared to be of National Tourist Interest, in which wine becomes the absolute protagonist and which every year attracts visitors from all over the world.
If you don’t want to miss any of these events, we recommend you to book your accommodation on our website.
Landscapes in full explosion
The vineyard is at its most beautiful. Green is the dominant colour, with the vines growing at a good pace and the landscape blending in with the mountains, hills and cereal fields. It is a perfect time for photography lovers, for those who enjoy nature walks or who are looking to disconnect surrounded by beauty and silence.
Walking along the paths that cross the Rioja Alta Wine Route, getting on a bike or simply stopping to contemplate the landscape from one of our natural viewpoints is an irresistible plan.
Any of the vineyards on the Rioja Alta Wine Route will provide you with the perfect photo during the Golden Hour at sunset.
Wine and gastronomy in the open air
Another of the great advantages of travelling to Rioja Alta in June is that you can enjoy wine and gastronomy in open spaces, terraces and patios of the wineries. Many of our partners have wine bars that open their doors to offer wines by the glass and small portions or tapas of local produce. A perfect way to take a break and discover new flavours.
It doesn’t matter if you come as a couple, with friends or with your family. You will find proposals for all tastes and tailor-made plans. In addition, in our Agenda section of the website you will find all the activities scheduled for this month: special visits, guided tastings, concerts among the vineyards, showcookings…
June is the month that has it all: long days, pleasant temperatures, popular festivals, green landscapes and endless wine tourism proposals. If you are thinking of a getaway, June is one of the best possible choices.
