These awards, presented by Condé Nast Traveler Spain, recognise the region’s gastronomy.
Last night, Virginia Borges, Director General of Tourism and Territorial Promotion for the Government of La Rioja, accepted the award recognising La Rioja as Best National Tablecloth in the third edition of the Hotel & Mantel 2025 Awards, presented by Condé Nast Traveler Spain. The jury for these awards, made up of the editorial staff of Traveler Spain and national opinion leaders in tourism and travel, recognised several distinctive strengths of La Rioja and its gastronomy that made it worthy of this award.
They highlighted the tenacious work of chefs who work with respect for local produce and the memory of taste, as well as the cult of traditional recipes from a region that blends perfectly with innovation and creativity. Similarly, the wide variety of products from La Rioja has been highlighted, which is undoubtedly the result of the work of all those who, every day, keep the gastronomic identity of La Rioja alive.
In turn, the jury’s decision also highlights the coexistence of various cuisines in the same territory, with slow-cooked flavours and traditional stews and casseroles that find their place in new culinary trends that preserve the wisdom of a lifetime. Finally, the diversity and living gastronomic culture that is cared for, respected and maintained on a daily basis has been highlighted.
The finalists in the category in which La Rioja was awarded Best National Tablecloth 2025, highlighting the melting pot of gastronomic wonders that exist in our country, were: Asturias, Cádiz, Gran Canaria, Guipúzcoa, La Coruña, Madrid, Mallorca, Tenerife and Valladolid.
