November in the Rioja Alta: unique landscapes and eternal vineyards
Uncategorized

November brings with it a special charm to the Rioja Alta Wine Route, which, after the grape harvest, is wrapped in unique landscapes and eternal vineyards in golden and ochre tones. It is the ideal time to enjoy a less crowded but equally attractive wine tourism season, where the vineyards rest in peace and quiet and the members continue to offer unforgettable experiences.

After the intense activity of the harvest, the vineyards of the Rioja Alta enter a resting phase. This rest, however, does not detract from the beauty of the landscape, which is transformed into a palette of warm colours that covers every corner of the vineyards and creates an ideal setting for exploring them. The vineyards in November offer a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for walks or bike rides. The paths through the vineyards, without the hustle and bustle of the grape harvest, allow for a more intimate connection with nature and the essence of the vine cycle.

For example, the wine trails offer a series of hiking routes that allow you to enjoy the beauty of the wine-growing landscape at this time of year. These trails are carefully signposted and adapted to different levels of difficulty, ideal for all ages. Along each route, you can discover viewpoints, historical points and rest areas, where you can appreciate the natural and cultural wealth that surrounds the vineyards.

Autumn is also the perfect time to take one of our Walks through the Sonsierra among vineyards, fortresses and incomparable natural landscapes. These itineraries, designed for walking, allow you to explore the treasures of the Sonsierra, such as its castles, hermitages and traditional wineries.

They also include routes through historic towns such as San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Ábalos, where tradition and the wine-growing landscape blend together in a unique atmosphere.

The Rioja Alta Wine Route offers a variety of activities that allow you to enjoy the landscapes and gastronomy in a peaceful setting. From guided tours and exclusive tastings in wineries to gastronomic experiences in steakhouses and restaurants that highlight seasonal products, November is the perfect month for those who want an authentic and less authentic and less crowded wine tourism experience.

#RutasenlaRuta: a new wine tourism experience

New this autumn, the Rioja Alta Wine Route has launched the #RutasenlaRuta initiative, a programme of themed bus routes that will run from November to March. These routes offer a complete experience that combines heritage, culture and, of course, wine tourism. In November, #RutasenlaRuta begins with the first of the four proposals: the Cultural Route, which will take place on 9 November.

This first route will take visitors to Sajazarra, one of the most beautiful villages in La Rioja, where they can take a guided tour to explore the local heritage and works of art.
Afterwards, the route will continue to Finca El Ternero. The next stop will be at Bodegas Tarón, in Tirgo, where you will learn in detail about the winemaking process in this region. Finally, the route ends with a meal at the renowned Asador Aker in Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, where you can enjoy a menu based on high quality local products.

To secure your place on the Cultural Route or on any of the upcoming themed routes, it is recommended that you buy your tickets online, as places are limited. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover the Rioja Alta in its purest essence and at one of the most beautiful times of the year.
