Haro brought together representatives from institutions and the tourism sector to discuss regional strategy, digitalisation and identity-based tourism. On Friday, the Palacio de Bendaña hosted a conference dedicated to public policies for promoting tourism in La Rioja Alta, an event that brought together institutional leaders, experts in digitalisation and representatives from the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors. Institutional strategy and digitalisation.

The first presentation was given by Virginia Borges, Director-General for Tourism and Regional Promotion at the Government of La Rioja, who outlined the strategy and public policies on tourism applicable to the Rioja Alta region. Javier Gurría, Project Manager at JIG, then spoke about digitalisation and innovation in the field of identity-based and regional tourism.
This was followed by a panel discussion entitled ‘Identity-based tourism: shared strategies’, featuring Miguel Caño, chef at the Nublo restaurant; Roberto Puras, coordinator of the Barrio de la Estación; and Óscar Martín, general manager of the Palacio de los Ángeles hotel. The panellists agreed that all sectors must work hand in hand, rather than viewing one another as competitors, in order to achieve sustained growth in tourism in the area.

The day’s programme included a speech by the Mayor of Haro, Guadalupe Fernández, before the event drew to a close. After the event had finished, those present enjoyed a glass of wine at the Calado de Palacio de Bendaña.
