The Rioja Alta Wine Route, among the most important in the world

The Rioja Alta Wine Route, among the most important in the world
News Rioja Alta Wine Route

The Rioja Alta Wine Route has something magical that is well known by those of us who are part of it, but its quality and fame transcend borders. Thus, the recently published book The Wine Routes of The World, dedicated to the most important wine routes in ten countries, includes the Rioja Alta Wine Route as an outstanding destination.

The book encourages tourists to get to know the different wines of ten countries around the world, taste their gastronomy and get to know the singularities that make their region unique. Thus, the Rioja Alta Wine Route highlights its potatoes with chorizo sausage and vine-shoot chops. Other highlights include the Dinastía Vivanco Wine Museum in Briones, the wine cellars and the winery districts of San Asensio and Haro. And it delves into the particularities of our most characteristic wines and grapes.

“The Wine Routes of The World” is a publication created by the World Tourism Organization and Araex Grands Foundation. In the section dedicated to our country, ACEVIN, through Turespaña, has been responsible for executing its contents.

In addition to Spain, Argentina, Chile, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, the United States and Argentina are featured. In the section dedicated to our country, the seven most visited routes in 2019 share the spotlight: Marco de Jerez, Ribera del Duero, Penedès, Calatayud, Rioja Alavesa, Rías Baixas and, of course, the Rioja Alta Wine Route.

The project aims to support the development of wine tourism and the capacity to build a new vision to maximise the impact of tourism in rural areas, in a way that immerses itself in the roots of each territory and its people. The book will be published in paper format shortly.
