LUMBRE is a place of yesteryear, 300 years old, witness to so many stories lived in Casalarreina. The restaurant has built a gastronomic proposal with Riojan roots that seeks the maximum expressiveness of traditional raw materials, respecting their language. A cuisine of intangibles, that creates sensations, that reinterprets memories, that dialogues with diners and invites them to travel with their senses. A recipe of harmony, detail, affection, imagination and dreams puts on the table a respectful gastronomy, which flees from eccentricity and escapes from definitions. A compendium of ingredients that coexist in balance are the raw material of a modern cuisine, with flavours attached to the land of La Rioja, which says yes to technical innovation. Lumbre thus becomes the gastronomic dream of a team that advocates the fusion of good cuisine with good service. The aim of this 17th century winery is to show in all its splendour the jewel left by those who came before us, and we do this by visiting the LUMBRE spaces: We want to be a place of encounters.

Brands Marqués de Vargas Hacienda Pradolagar Our history goes back to 1840 when Don Felipe de la Mata, VIII Marquis of Vargas, planted the first vines at Hacienda Pradolagar. Don Pelayo de la Mata, XI Marquis of Vargas and tireless promoter of this project, fulfilled his father’s dream in 1989 by building the current “Château” style winery. Bodegas y Viñedos del Marqués de Vargas is today a solid family project where we produce limited editions of exclusive premium wines made with grapes from our own vineyards. A dream come true. Other information of interest: At Bodegas y Viñedos del Marqués de Vargas we stand out for our production, exclusively, of wines for ageing. To do so, we use our own grapes from the 50 hectares we have at Hacienda Pradolagar. We have carried out this philosophy in Rioja, as well as in our wineries in Ribera del Duero (Conde de San Cristóbal) and Rías Baixas (Pazo de San Mauro). Winery visits

Paraje de Ubieta s/n
It is located to the west of the town, below the castle. Due to its excellent position, it defended the Ebro crossing of the border between Navarre and Castile. It is possible that its existence dates back to 1172, when the town received the charter from Sancho the Wise of Navarre. However, the oldest preserved part may date back to the 13th century, with a Romanesque structure. It consisted of thirteen pointed arches, on triangular cutwater basins and rectangular spurs and two defensive towers, one in the centre and probably another at the entrance on the left bank. This construction was rebuilt at the end of the 16th century, transforming it into a bridge with twelve arches and a single tower. It is built in ashlar and masonry. It currently has nine arches, of different spans and shapes: the first three, which are the oldest, are pointed, the next three are semicircular, the seventh is elliptical, the eighth is bell-shaped and the ninth is semicircular. It rests on pillars with nine cutwaters of different shapes (triangular, pointed and semicircular) and nine rectangular spurs. The roadway has a slightly sloping profile from the right bank to the left, and has nine […]
