San Vicente de la Sonsierra
The route starts in the Plaza Mayor and continues down Calle Mesones and Calle Las Cuestas until it reaches the Carretera de Briones. From there we head towards the Bosque path and follow the route signposted with the QRs “Paseos por la Sonsierra” (Walks through the Sonsierra).
The walk to the Guardaviñas del Muerto is a short route adapted for all ages and runs along paved sections. The destination, the Guardaviñas del Muerto, is less than three kilometres away. On the way back you will visit the remains of the Hermitage of Ntra. Señora de la Peña and its hermitage and enjoy spectacular views of the area.
We start from the Plaza Mayor. Scan the QR of the Walks through the Sonsierra and continue along Calle Mesones. Turn right and continue along Calle de las Cuestas until you reach Carretera de Briones. Continue along the Briones road until you reach the Camino del Bosque (in front of you). You will find signs indicating the route. Dangerous crossing, be very careful when crossing the road. Continue along the asphalted road, enjoying the sound of the Ebro and the fauna that inhabits it. You will find signposts for the “Walks through the Sonsierra” that will take you to your destination. This section of the path is partially shared with two other paths: the Ebro Wine Routes Path and the Ebro Nature Trail. You will find various signposts to guide you along the way. The next landmark of Paseos por la Sonsierra is at a fork to the right about a thousand metres from this point. Turn right. Walk some ninety metres along the path to the Convent and you will find the signpost with the next turning on the right. Turn right. Continue ascending along the Camino de Sisabal until you find the Guardaviñas del Muerto (about 570 metres).

About 400 metres on the left you will find signs to visit the hermitage and hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Peña. Enjoy the views of the Ebro groves and the silhouette of the town of Briones on the other side of the Ebro. Then retrace your steps and head back to the Plaza Mayor, enjoying the sounds of the Ebro, with the view of the castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra in the background.
