The Beethoven I restaurant and bar, since 1941, is a typical Riojan mesón with a rustic-style flavour and typical Riojan cuisine. On the one hand, the Rioja wine bar with a long bar full of “pinchos” and tapas, such as the famous pepper stuffed with mushrooms, the truffled cod canutillo with tomato jam and sunflower seeds, or the mushroom saquito with mushroom and mustard sauce. On the other hand, the informal restaurant with a menu that combines Rioja casseroles with a classic menu of Riojan cuisine, such as the stews of the day, the fresh cod with fried vegetables, the T-bone steak, or the much sought-after roast milk lamb.

It was founded in 1973 by a small gastronomic society from Gipuzkoa that met to produce wines for their own consumption. In a short time, Beronia became a benchmark winery for its reserves and grand reserves, made in the purest and most traditional style of La Rioja. In 1982 González Byass incorporated Bodegas Beronia into its Wine Family. Its philosophy is based on three fundamental aspects: the quality of its wines, respect for the environment and its concern for research in the world of oenology but always maintaining the essence of La Rioja. Brands Viña Pomal Bodegas Bilbaínas, one of the oldest wineries in La Rioja, was founded in 1901 in the mythical Barrio de la Estación in Haro (Rioja Alta). A pioneer since its creation in making wines from its own grapes, it is the largest owner of vineyards in the municipality of Haro. A total of 250 hectares surround the winery, emulating the prestigious French châteaux. Its origins date back to 1859, when French producers settled in this Riojan municipality to produce and export red wine to France. Four decades later, the Bilbao businessman Santiago Ugarte took it over. The winery has the oldest bottling register in La Rioja, since its origins, the wines were bottled and labelled on the property. The main building houses a surface area of 3,400 m2 of underground cellars. The first vintage of Viña Pomal, the winery’s flagship brand, dates back to 1904, the starting point for the birth of a classic. Viña Pomal owes its name to the vineyard in which it originated. Bodegas Bilbaínas was a pioneer 100 years ago in understanding oenology and viticulture as it is understood today, giving prominence to the vineyards, the terroir and the grape. Camino de Los Lirios s/n
Briñas Bridge is a bridge in the municipality of Haro, La Rioja (Spain) that crosses the Ebro River over a horseshoe-shaped meander. It is Gothic in style. Made of ashlar stone, the oldest remains seem to date from the end of the 13th century, and it was repaired in the 15th century and on many other occasions thereafter. It is 150 metres long and 4.6 metres wide. It has seven openings, although it seems that initially it had only six. The oldest would be the fifth and sixth. For centuries it was very important, as it was one of the few bridges over the Ebro and formed part of the Basque Way of St. James in the Interior. It was a very popular crossing point for trade with Alava and Navarre, being important for the transit of goods, for which it is known that in the 15th century, during the time of the Catholic Monarchs, tolls were charged to be able to pass over it. The date of construction would be prior to 1288, framed within the repopulation policies after the reconquest from the end of the 11th century, both to fix the population and to attract new settlers through […]
